Global cost of dementia set to reach US$1 trillion

A report by Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) has revealed that the global cost of caring for people with dementia will reach US$1 trillion by 2018. The report, World Alzheimer Report 2015: The Global Impact of Dementia: An analysis of prevalence, incidence, cost and trends, found that previous forecasts underestimated the figure by 12-13 per cent.
