ITAC Conference

Telstra Health – Aged, Disability & Community Care (ADCC) recently attended the ITAC 2016 Conference in Melbourne. With the theme ‘Empowering Care Technology’, the conference emphasised the importance of information technology in establishing a sustainable, quality focused aged care environment.

The conference explored how innovation and disruptive business models will transform the aged care sector both in Australia and internationally. The theme for the conference was in line with Telstra Health’s push towards intuitive, modular software solutions, and our focus on user-centred software that creates efficiencies, reduces risk and assists staff in providing high-quality care.

Telstra Health’s involvement

The ITAC 2016 Conference was the final opportunity for the Telstra Health – ADCC division to come together at a conference in 2016, with team members from our community care and residential aged care solutions joining forces as one of the conference’s largest exhibitors.

The Telstra Health exhibitor booth featured a coffee stand with baristas offering complimentary coffee to delegates over the two days. In addition to the complementary coffee, Telstra Health was pleased to donate the lounge room furniture featured in our booth to one of our valued clients.

Highlights of the conference

One of the highlights from the ITAC 2016 Conference was a session run by Shara Evans, Founder and CEO of Market Clarity. Evans is one of the world’s top female futurists, and spoke about how the latest technological advances, such as wearable sensors, can be used to provide ultra-individualised healthcare. Evans also highlighted how nanotechnologies and augmentation of our bodies may blur the lines between human and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The 2016 Young Australian’s of the Year, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett, presented another key session at the conference. Marchesi and Patchett explained how their organisation, Orange Sky Laundry, works to improve the laundry standards of the homeless through the use of 60 wash vans and over 700 volunteers.

ITAC awards

The ITAC 2016 Awards night was another highlight of the conference, which promoted the importance of information technology in establishing a sustainable, quality focused aged care environment. Telstra Health – ADCC was proud to be named co-winner of the Best Workforce Efficiency or Quality Improvement Solution for our Medication Management app, MedMobile.

This honour was the third win for MedMobile in 2016, after receiving the Mobility Innovation of the Year award in the Business Services category at the Victorian iAwards in June, and the Excellence in Mobility and Devices award at the Microsoft Australia Partner Awards (MAPA) in September.
